Graphic Designer – August 2008 to present
Meeting and taking briefs from Account Managers and customers, interpreting their needs and creating effective outcomes. Thorough communication with customers consists of phone and email conversations and face to face presentations. I am expected to manage job deadlines and requirements with the print production team. I also relish the large painstaking artworking projects which demand accuracy, attention to detail and patience. I understand the importance of working methodically when art-working to create efficient results. Responsibilities include signing off proofs with pre-press departments creating impositions, colour mapping and trapping, ensuring all work is set up accurately for Digital or Litho printing and overseeing all jobs passing through the design studio.
During February 2015, I made a move into the Pre prees department to cover a position. I have been trained in the latest Pre press software, which has given me an exceptional insight into the Lithographic print process, aswell as pre and post press processes.
Art-worker, Graphic Designer – January 2005 to August 2008
Overseeing the digital production of projects from stationery to exhibition displays. Here I gained a full working knowledge of the print process, which helped my understanding of how problems can arise. This subsequently taught me how snags can be overcome earlier in the design process, thus strengthening my awareness of how artwork should be supplied for economical production. As an added interest I was often able to utilise my photography ability when creating marketing material.
Scanner, Mac-operator – May 2002 to December 2004
This was introduction to the creative industry. Working to deadlines and understanding all the processes involved. I was responsible for all Photoshop retouching work, rendering of sketched artwork to a national print standard, and became familiar sending and receiving files for print via FTP/ISDN.
Extensive skills in the Adobe CS/CC Package, with 9 years industry experience of InDesign (Quark Xpress) and Illustrator, and over 11 years with Photoshop. 2 years using Heidelberg Print Ready system and Heidelberg Signa Station, under the tuition of an ex-Heidelberg software demonstrator. I’m intrigued by any form of design, particularly, vintage record sleeves, packaging, stamps and have a fascination with architecture. My two children keep me on my toes and am married to a Midwife. Staying active is important to me and play in an ‘ever evolving’ six-a-side football team. In my spare time I enjoy film, music, comedy and keeping up-to-date with most sports.
